Stokercon 2024 in San Diego

Spent last weekend in San Diego at Stokercon. What a fantastic time. Multiple panels, many conversations. Laughs, tears, books, conversations. I handed out ARCs of my upcoming novella Kali's Web, and working on plans for a recently finished novel. I pre-recorded a panel on Grief in Horror, and I moderated the panel: The Intersection of Mental Health and Horror panel. Rather than simply discuss how to best depict mental illness when writing horror, we dove into a discussion of if Horror (either consuming it, or creating it) can be 'good' for our mental health. With all the shiny, happy people at the convention, I can safely conclude it is. "Better out than in" as Jon Maberry said at the opening ceremonies. I'll be there in Connecticut for STokercon2025

Another highlight: sitting next to friend, fantastic writer and wonderful human, Christa Carmen, when she won her Stoker Award and snapping this shot
