I'm recently home from Stamford, Connecticut and the Horror Writers Association Stokercon weekend. After having gone to the last 6 of 7 conventions, I understand what people mean about making so many friends. It feels like the happiest place on earth, and I reunited with old friends and made some new ones. It's a place where the horror writers and horror fans feel at home, and furthers my belief (as I've repeated more than once): Horror writers have the finest hearts around.
I was a panelist for Combating Loneliness as a writer and Horror as Therapy. I laughed and cried (literally) and barely ate (only two sit down meals). I sold some books at the mass signing, and bought as many books as I sold (such is the circle of writing and reading life.) Seemed only right that such and adventure take a ten hour road trip. Next year, it's even closer at Pittsburgh.
Here's a handful of images
